Holiday Helpers

Most people eat for weeks on end during the holidays.  Really the holidays are only about 3 to 6 days depending on what you celebrate.  It's really not a 2 month feeding frenzy like some of us think.

Here are some tips to help you maintain your progress during the holidays.

1. Eat healthy all day every day.
2. Treat holiday events as a cheat meal.
3. Exercise daily.  Even if it's just a short walk, stretch or a few crunches or squats. Keep your momentum.
4.  Bring a fruit bowl and veggie platter to events so you always have food.

5. Drink a bottle of fresh squeezed juice or fresh smoothie on the way to the event.
6. Start a water challenge.  Aim for a gallon or a little less than a gallon a day so you keep your metabolism going. Make it easier for your body to flush out the toxins.
7. Start a bedtime crunch challenge.  Do 100 crunches every other night.
8. Keep fresh fruit in the house on your counters, in your fridge. Make it easy to eat healthy.
9. Give fitness gifts. I give fruit platters, motivational books, yoga mats, organic breads, healthy cookbooks, homemade healthy treats.  The gift of a coffee mug with some green tea bags and candles is a nice way to show someone you are thinking of them AND it's inexpensive!
10. Relax and enjoy yourself. Have a treat. Hug family and friends.  Realize that the holidays are a time to share and appreciate what we have.

Happy holidays!
