Smoothies For Breakfast OH MY!

Here's a new recipe I tried today.  Try and let me know what you think.

2 cups frozen pineapple
6 ounces coconut water
5 fresh basil leaves (a handful.  I don't know if it was five or not)

Blend on high until smooth.  Add a little maple syrup or raw sugar if you like it icky yummy sweet!

Drink...enjoy ....bliss.   💛

I've dropped two pants sizes by subbing meals for smoothies or juice a few times a day and lifting very heavy weights over my head several times a week.  Try it. You might be surprised at your results.

Sick Day Menu - Free Yourself from Bottles and Cans!

Today I have a very bad sinus infection I'm fighting.  My body is craving red and green foods.  My fever however is keeping me from being coherent enough to make lots of complicated foods. I did not want to lean on convenience foods like canned soup and bottles pasteurized juices that In my opinion have no nutrients.

My sick day menu is as follows:

Breakfast
24 ounces of juiced carrots, strawberries, spinach, apple

Lunch
Bowl of vegetable broth made with filtered water, smashed garlic, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, spinach, some whole grain noodles and a dash of tamari and nutritional yeast for seasoning.

Dinner

Bowl of Homemade Sweet Potato Soup

Here is the recipe for this divine healing nectar.

One cup of sweet potatoes

One chopped apple

Handful of pecans

One garlic clove
Blended in Vitamix with 2 cups of warm filtered water and a dash of sea salt.  Divine!

Bon appetite and Nom Nom!

Be well.......

Stop Throwing Away Food!

Sundays are food prep days for me.  I pack up salads and other items I buy in bulk to make sure I don't waste my money.

Shop at stores that will give you a discount for buying in bulk.  That's number one.

Invest in some storage for that food so it doesn't go to waste.  That's number two.
I prefer Lock and Lock containers, Ball glass jars, Temptations brand stoneware and Pyrex glass containers.  I will purchase some green bags soon and see how those work. I'll let you know if I see a difference. (Side eye....they cost $19 for a set sooo don't expect to see them any time soon...)

I prep everything in advance and that helps me to stay on my healthy eating plan and also save money. Nothing worse than throwing away good food you pay good money for!

All set to go for the week.  Share your food saving tips.  I would love to learn from you too.

Bon Apetit!

Fast Food Break

Here's a few shots from my lunch today. I was starving and didn't pack anything to take on the road but some figs. (Dumb...)

I stopped at a Wegmans instead of Mcdonalds and got a huge fruit bowl and an avocado.  Thankfully they had some ripe ones there.  It's so hard to find ripe bananas and avocados in a pinch.  I almost always have to buy them and ripen at home. I got lucky today.

This buttery avocado didn't even need salt.  I cut into it with a plastic knife (I know ...plastic is bad but it's all they had.  It was either that or a salad from fast food.  I opted for this instead of stressing about plastic.) It was perfect and came in it's own little bowl.

This meal set me back $16.   $14.99 for the giant size party pack fresh fruit bowl and $1.00 for the avocado.  But I will get about 3 meals or snacks out of it so that works out to about $5.33 per meal.  If you look at it that way it's not bad.  I stuffed myself with fruit and ate half the avocado.  Usually I only eat about a 1/4 of the avocado, but I had skipped breakfast today and I was starved.

Cheers!
